“IN AN AGELESS SOCIETY, WE WILL NURTURE EVERYONE’S VALUE AND CONTRIBUTION, AT EVERY STAGE OF LIFE.”—–Mission Statement of CESI.
The world has made incredible achievements in the past 100 years of which one is an increasing life span.
(The World Elderly population aged 60 years + will soon reach 2 billion. This is 6 times higher than in 1980.) To be replaced with BD statistics
Never before have there been so many Elderly and never before was it so imperative for society to make space for them. We need to think innovatively to accommodate the elderly in our midst. The resolution of this phenomenal social change not only presents challenges but opens up new opportunities as well. The faster we act on these opportunities, the faster the society can benefit communally and economically.
The aim is to defeat ageism. Ageism is mostly recognized as a “problem” by stereotyping. The Internet provides images of all sorts, some accurate and some inaccurate or fake in nature, creating perceptions of the elderly as a “burden” invoking indifference, carelessness, negligence and sometimes even hatred for the Elderly.
CESI intends to shatter this perception with accurate images of aging in today’s world.
It is hoped that the new order will foster economic growth as businesses will employ more adults 60+ and provide a great array of products and services in order to integrate them into the formal and informal sectors, while others will participate extensively in all spheres of the economy backed by an increase in real income. Resulting in a heightened economy with increased employment, more Initiatives and participation in the community as well as national affairs.
This change will usher new dimensions in healthcare bringing improvement in Geriatric medicine and new techniques in the prevention of chronic disease and in managing Palliative care. The standard of healthcare needs to be adequate, specialized and modern as well as readily accessible on priority.
